Archangel Motorsports Services, Inc. has a long history of successfully campaigning sportscars. Led by team owner Mike Johnson the team has scored victories and Championships in the most prestigious sportscar races in the world.

    In 2000 the team focused their efforts on the Grand American Rolex Series SRPII class. Dominating the season, the team scored wins in 6 of 8 races en ruote to taking home the Team and Driver Championship. Ryan Hampton and Larry Oberto shared in the Driver's Championship driving the team's Gemstar / Oberto Beef Jerky sponsored Lola.

    The team refocused their energies in the off season and when the 2001 season rolled around the team pursued and won the SRPII class at the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona. From there the team went on to score their second straight Team and Driver Championship. Leading the driver chores for Archangel was a rising star, Andy Lally. The young American star utilized the SRPII championship with Archangel to catapult himself into sportscar stardom as one of the premiere drivers in the states.

    The 2002 and 2003 season saw Archangel score podium finishes at the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona to add to their impressive results at that track. While the team continued to have success in the Grand American Rolex Series, the team also began to focus their efforts on running their Lola in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), winning multiple events and finishing in the Runner-Up position with young British Driver Ben Devlin.

    Changes in the rules packages in the 2003 season in the coming years saw the SRPII class fade away. Archangel Motorsports utilized the opportunity to develop their relationship with Nissan USA to campaign Nissan Sentras in the Grand Am Cup ST class. In addition the Nissan effort, the team found success with their ALMS effort starting with a podium finish in late 2002 at the Petit Le Mans.

    Team Principle Mike Johnson has also found success using his race team management talents with other teams. In 2004 Johnson found success on both sides of the Atlantic. In the states Johnson led the Maryland based TPC Racing effort to a SGS Team and Driver Championship. Johnson helped the Team score the Grand American Rolex SGS Series championship while their lead drivers Marc Bunting and Lally took home the Driver's title. In Europe Johnson led the Intersport Racing effort to a win at the 24 Hour of Le Mans race. The event marked only the second time that Johnson had Team Managed at the French racing classic.

    Continuing his success in 2005, Johnson assisted the The Racers Group (TRG) Pontiac GTO.R effort to the Team Championship in the Grand American Rolex GT class, while serving as Team Manager for the Krohn Racing/TRG DP effort. The DP team scored 2 wins duing the season, and drivers Marc Bunting and Andy Lally narrowly missed out on the Driver's Title in GT, finishing second one point behind. In addition to his team management, Johnson also had an opportunity to drive in the Petit Le Mans and scored a third place finish driving the BAT Motorsports Lola.

    Johnson's success in the sportscar world, combined with past experience in the media, saw him be recruited by Speed TV for a spot on their crew to announce the SCCA RunOffs starting in the 2004 season. Johnson's prior television background included a stint on MTV's The Real World as well as stints on "The Real World / Road Rules Challenge". Johnson has continued on as a commentator for Speed TV announcing the grassroots club championships in 2004 and 2006. In addition, Johnson has found himself behind the mic for events in the Grand American Rolex Series an dGrand-Am Cup Series in the late 2006 season.
